Note: This is because, instead of ‘3’ sounds in CVC Words, this Vowel-Consonant Word has only ‘2’!

Put them into Context

Learning CVC Words using Picture Clues

This is one of the truly cool CVC-Word-Learning activities.

Show your child a picture of a CVC Word. Say for instance, a ‘Dog’.
Ask them what they think the picture is of, and then have them say it aloud.
Finally, have them segment the individual ‘sounds’ of the letters in the word. Here it would be /d/, followed by /o/ and finally, /g/.
As they are segmenting each sound, have them write the corresponding letter on a piece of paper.
When they form the full word, give them a pat on the back and move on to the next CVC Word!
